Vote NO on the new property(library) tax

Voting NO on a new property tax measure is not a vote against libraries. The obvious reason for voting NO is so that we do not create a brand new tax on our properties, but I am also going to list a few principled reasons why we should vote NO. Here are three key reasons why we should vote NO on the proposed property tax increase:

1. Upholding Constitutional Governance: As a representative republic, we should reject efforts to use ballot initiatives to bypass our constitutional structure. We elect officials to set tax rates and manage public funds; this system ensures direct accountability. This ballot initiative is a thinly veiled attempt by activists to use "direct democracy " to implement their agendas. Implementing a new tax by ballot initiative is at its core no different than the billionaire tax put on the ballot in CA by liberals and activists.

2. Ensuring Accountability: If we implement a new tax to fund a non-profit entity, it creates a lack of oversight. It leaves critical questions unanswered regarding who determines tax rates, who bears the tax burden, and how those funds are managed. And frankly these questions are already answered in our constitution. We should not be funding non-profits with tax dollars.

3. Addressing Root Causes: Increasing funding for a struggling institution does not resolve its underlying issues. Rather than defaulting to tax increases, institutions should adapt to serve their community effectively and manage resources responsibly. This is the beauty of a free market and supply side economics.
